A meeting on the government's initiative to introduce the Probashi Card was held under the chairmanship of BNP Chairman and Prime Minister Mr. Tarique Rahman. During the meeting, it was announced that the pilot phase of the government's Probashi Card Program will commence next month.
The meeting was held today, Saturday, 18 July 2026, at Chameli Hall of the Prime Minister's Office.
Officials informed the meeting that the primary objectives of the Probashi Card are to enhance the social status of Bangladeshi expatriates, promote their financial inclusion and empowerment, and facilitate international banking and payment services through a dual-currency card.
As part of the government's election commitments, implementation of the Family Card, Farmer Card, and Sports Card programs has already begun. In line with these initiatives, the Probashi Card is being introduced as another priority government program through a pilot phase.
Key Benefits of the Probashi Card
Cardholders will receive at least 10 exclusive benefits, including:
1. Complimentary access to airport lounges at home and abroad, along with priority immigration services through dedicated immigration booths.
2. Complimentary Meet & Greet services at international airports.
3. Special discounts on airline tickets and hotel bookings.
4. Affordable vehicle booking services both domestically and internationally, with complimentary airport pick-up and drop-off services for Signature Card holders.
5. Dedicated expatriate service counters at government hospitals and special discounts on healthcare services at private hospitals.
6. Free repatriation of the cardholder's remains to Bangladesh in the event of death abroad.
7. Rehabilitation support and insurance benefits for returning migrant workers.
8. Priority services for land registration, mutation, utility connections, licensing, and foreign investment-related procedures.
9. Remittance reward points, credit scoring, access to loan facilities, and convenient financial transactions through the card.
10. Priority access to services related to the National Identity Card (NID), passport issuance, consular assistance, banking, and other government services.
The meeting also announced that the official pilot launch of the Probashi Card is scheduled for mid-August 2026.
During the first phase, Janata Bank, a state-owned commercial bank, will issue the Probashi Debit Card. The government aims to distribute 50,000 cards by December 2026 and 200,000 cards by June 2027.
In the subsequent phase, all Probashi Card-related operations will be managed through the Probashi Kallyan Bank.
The Prime Minister also directed the National Skills Development Authority (NSDA) to modernize its training programs and align them more closely with the evolving demands of the international labor market.
He further instructed the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to gradually bring all Bangladeshi expatriates around the world under the coverage of the Probashi Card program.
The meeting was attended by Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Ariful Haque Chowdhury, State Minister Nurul Haque Nur, Prime Minister's Advisers Rehan Asif Asad and Mahdi Amin, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shakirul Islam Khan, as well as senior officials from the relevant ministries and government agencies.
